Chateau Ste. Michelle 2010 Riesling is a “back from the beach” wine loaded with peach and ripe pear notes and balanced for receptions sipping or with salads and even fish.
When the heat gets you down, use refreshing balanced wines with loads of fruit and little or no tannins. Wine will cool and relax you in a way that big alcohol drinks never can. Don’t drink you get sluggish, savor some Vinous suggestions to help enjoy the summer.
2009 Loredona Viognier is a white wine from Lodi, California. It’s laced with apricot and tangerine aromas and honeysuckle notes while at 13.5% is a summer wine for chicken or fish and especially if grilled and served on the deck. One bottle will not be enough.
2009 Clayhouse Adobe White is a blend of Viognier, Roussanne and Grenache Blanc. A dry food-wine for hot weather drinking and a perfect BYOB selection.
2009 Dry Creek Fume’ Blanc is an American wine from California that taste like it was made in the Loire Valley of France where wines are designed to be refreshing for chicken, veal, sea food and great with shell fish!
How about a refreshing light red? 2009 Tres Picos Garnache is loaded with blackberry and strawberry aromas and plum, vanilla and new-car leather (which comes fro the touch of oak) making it a light summer red and it will make a simple pasta and zucchini dish taste like gourmet dining.
Alianca Vinho Verdo has 9% alcohol with a hint of fizz! It comes from North East Portugal and is a much for poolside drinking, beach parties, boating fun and while so refreshing, it’s low alcohol keeps you sharp. Use it as a reception wine for guests. You’ll go through a case in days.
